Ever dream of creating your own radio show? With podcasting you and your students can create and publish shows in an audio format. Reports, book talks, interviews, and more can open your learning to the world. Participants will discuss the uses of podcasting, copyright issues, and keeping students' identity safe over the internet. Also, participants will create and publish their own podcast along with putting on aggragate sites such as iTunes.
Video
Recent advancements in digital video have made it an easy tool to use with students. Participants will discuss how to use video as an assessment tool. Tips on basic videography and editing will be given. Finally, participants will discuss whether to share their videos on the Internet and how to use video sharing sites such as YouTube, Teacher Tube, or Fliggo.
Wikis
A web presence is a necessity for the 21st Century teacher. Wikis, derived from the Hawaiian term meaning quick, give teachers an easy way to have that web presence. Participants will create their own wiki and learn how to use them as basic websites, modern lesson plans, and/or collabrotive projects.
Twitter for Teachers
Twitter is one of the hottest applications on the web. A microblog in which you have 140 characters to get your message across. Schools and teachers are using Twitter to communicate to students, parents, and the community about homework assignments, special events, and school or district news. Participants will create a Twitter account and learn the do's and don'ts of how to use this effective communication tool.
