Internet Safety
The Internet is an excellent source of information and a great place to showcase what teachers and students are doing. However, there are risks in using the Internet for both children and teachers. These workshops will help participants understand what the dangers are and how to minimize the risk.
Internet Safety for Children
Participants will learn fact from myth about the dangers to children on the Internet and how use simple methods to protect them from harm.
Internet Safety for Teachers
Because of their work with children, teachers need to be extra careful when using the Internet because communities hold teachers to higher moral standards. Participants will discuss what can and cannot be posted on social networking sites such as MySpace or Facebook. Learning to being aware of cameras in social settings and how quickly photographs can be posted on the Internet along with turning an innocent situation into a possible career-ending problem. How teachers should interact with students on the Internet with social networking sites will also be discussed.
