John Woodring
Teacher and Instructional Technology Coach

I have 17 years of experience in education, 14 as a high school social studies teacher and 3 as a Instructional Technology Coach. Currently I serve as the Instructional Technology Coach for H.E. McCracken Middle School. During all my years in education I have integrated technology into my teaching whenever I could. I was one of the first teachers in the Beaufort County School District to create a hybrid traditional/online course with a Criminal Justice course at Hilton Head Island High School and Bluffton High School. When Bluffton High School opened in 2004-2005, a textbook shortage allowed me to use web-based applications and information to teach United States History.
My awards include the Technology Innovative Program Award from the South Carolina Association for Education Technology in 2008 for incorporating Web 2.0 application uses into core curriculum courses. In 2009 I was part of the coaching team whose students took first place in Research Presentation at the South Carolina FIRST Lego League Robotics Competition.
I have given presentations and instruction on Internet Safety, Cyberbullying, and a variety of Web 2.0 applications to the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, the South Carolina Educational Technology Conference, the South Carolina Educational Television's Educational Technology Workshop, and the Beaufort County School District. I also presented a paper on the history of Camp Croft During World War II to the World War II: The Southern Homefront Conference sponsored by the National Archives.
Media publications and interviews include authoring the article "More Time to Tech with the H/PC" for Pocket PC Magazine. I was also interviewed for using the Internet to teach students about presidential candidates in 1995 for the article "Cyberpoliticking" in the Wall Street Journal. WSAV-TV in Savannah, Georgia interviewed me for their news broadcast and and My Lowcountry 3 show. I was also the first person interviewed live on My Lowcountry 3 through the use of Skype.
I have a Bachelors Degree in History from the University of South Carolina Upstate and a Masters in Education from Converse College.
I believe I have the experience and knowledge to help you prepare your students for the challenges of the 21st Century. Please let me know how I may help you by calling 843-290-6514 or emailing me at
